Sia - Buttons

so this is the most uncomfortable music video i have ever watched. I honestly had to look away several times, and wanted to change it...but you know how curiosity works, so i had to keep watching.

i thought my friends just might appreciate it.

Why I Hate College

It's been pointed out that I haven't posted a blog in awhile. Not because I'm married, and married life is bliss and all I want to do is cuddle with my husband...but because nothing exciting, or even interesting is going on.

I do like cuddling with my husband though.

But I thought I'd share my feelings on a subject that I've come to feel very passionately about.

College.

I believe that college is one of the biggest gimmicks ever created. Not unlike Jared's Subway diet, or the Acai Berry. They trick you into thinking you're getting something great, that will end up paying for itself down the road.

I, like most Americans, was tricked since childhood into thinking that I had to go to college in order to obtain a high-paying, respectable job. There is such a huge social value placed on the necessity of this ritual, that it's nearly impossible to receive any kind of respect from friends and colleagues if you haven't attended, or don't intend on attending, a college program. Unfortunately, it's just a very spendy social network.

Take me for example. I went to school for five years and, after several changes of my Major (that I was never ever really excited about), received my Bachelors Degree. My average monthly income: $0. When I did have a job, it was not in my "field of study," and my average monthly income: $2400. I could've had every single job I've had without the degree that I spent $20,000 on. And you ask me to tell you what the bones in the skull are called, or how to find the specific heat of water... yeah, I don't know. I only ever knew those things for maybe two weeks, in order to pass a test.

And how many people do I know that didn't make it through college and who make a significant amount more than I do? A significant amount of people, people!!

Unfortunately most of those who read this blog have already been through the painful process that is college, and are in the same boat as me, wondering if sorting vegetables is really worth their sanity to provide for their livelihood. But if you haven't been to college yet, or have yet to make it through: spare yourself. It isn't worth it. Sure, I made lots of dear, life-long friends in college...but if you haven't already done that, you can make friends somewhere else, I guarantee it.

So, three.5 years later, it hasn't paid for itself. And I just got offered a job, in my "field of study," for just barely above minimum wage.

Maybe I should become a mechanic. Anybody know how much they make? More than a social worker...

Finally!

We got married!
It was truly the happiest day of my life (and his, too, I'm pretty sure). Nothing could've ruined this day for us.
Thank you to all of our friends and family who were there to make it so great!
Now the sucky part is learning how to sleep in the same bed together...he is sort of a bed hog...

big news

i'm getting married!!

July 17th in the Bountiful Utah temple.

his name is Courtney and he is wonderful. we are the biggest dorks together and i love it. i think we are meant to be.

he proposed to me while we were riding our longboards down Provo canyon. in the actual act of riding them, he knelt down on one knee on his board and popped the question. initially instead of saying yes i said "we have to stop! i need to get off!"
but i yelled "Of course!" shortly thereafter, while he was running down the hill to catch my board.

i love him very much and feel like the luckiest girl in the world!
oh, except that my new name will be Natalie Dawn Johnson. say it out loud, and you'll know why that sucks.

puppy love

I'm yearning for a puppy.

I've wanted one so badly for about a year now.

how could you not love this mug?

Court seems to think that girls get puppies when they are lonely. Well, for anyone who may be wondering, i'm not lonely in the least bit.

just tell me this isn't the cutest thing you've ever seen.

Noss tributes

I would like to dedicate this post to the one and only Abba Zaba.

if you know me well, you know that this is my favorite candy.
and you will also know that these little beauties are hard to come by.
i bought one for my boyfriend (see novena's blog if you'd like to see what he looks like)
for Christmas because he had never experienced one, and i had to stock up.
if you've never tried one, let me explain. The Abba Zaba is a hard white taffy bar filled with peanut butter. the taffy can be cracked, but gets soft once you chew on it.
the best thing is that they last forever.
i just feel a lot of love for Abba Zaba's today. and i wanted to share that.
